The Vermont Bond Bank

Michael Gaughan, the executive director and secretary of the Vermont Bond Bank, presented us with a clear vision. With multifaceted responsibilities, including loaning to local municipalities and public projects, as well as fundraising and selling bonds to gather the necessary funds to be able to support these municipalities, The Vermont Bond Bank wanted a clean, professional redesign of their website, along with modern functionality to bring the Bond Bank into the present decade.

The Vermont Bond Bank project differed from recent projects at Hark in that in addition to having common components like a fully searchable and sortable resource library as part of the project, they also wanted to digitally enable the loan process. After sifting through the large, complex data set given to us, we got to work putting together the loan search functionality, which meant creating a custom module for uploading csv tables, filling database tables and then splitting them in React. The Loan Application form, with its complicated inputs, also proved to be difficult, but we were up to the task.

Thanks to The Vermont Bond Bank being so visionary, Hark was able to design something that could fit all of the updated content. It was a true team effort: we worked together with the Bond Bank to craft a well-designed, functional site. They didn’t rush the process, which in turn allowed us to create a site with lots of ability to build out new pages and tweak sections as the project progressed. The Vermont Bond Bank was pleased with the final site design, and we’re proud to have helped the state’s bond bank get a modern refresh. The end product was a site that’s visually appealing, easy to navigate, and, at its core, introduces the Bond Bank’s mission to a new generation of Vermonters.
